Ping – Lee Westwood, 4th all-time in Ryder Cup points for Europe

Lee-Westwood-Ping-Ryder-CupOctober 1, 2014 – In helping his mates defeat Team USA 16 ½ to 11 ½ points for a third-straight Ryder Cup victory, the Ping staff player  Lee Westwood passed the legendary Seve Ballesteros (22.5) into fourth place on Team Europe’s all-time points list with 23, only behind Nick Faldo (25), Bernhard Langer (24) and Colin Montgomerie (23.5).

By posting two wins at the Gleneagles Golf Club in Scotland, he is only 2 ½ points from becoming the all-time points leader in European Ryder Cup history.

Westwood became one of only eight players on either side to amass 20 Ryder Cup victories. This was his ninth-straight appearance.

“Obviously, I’m pleased I’ve put so many European points on the board over the past years, but more proud that I’ve been on seven winning Ryder Cup sides,” says Lee Westwood.

From the Ping staff, European Vice Captain Miguel Angel Jiménez shared Westwood’s sentiments on the victory, while Hunter Mahan and Bubba Watson played in the defeated Ryder Cup Team USA.
