May 31, 2014 – Mia Piccio (Callaway Golf) from the Philippines has won her first title as a professional at the Oca Augas Santas Ladies International Open, after shooting a final round 69, to win by one shot from Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori (Srixon).

The 23 year-old from the Philippines came from three shots behind Sweden’s Lina Boqvist going into the today final round. Both players, together with Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori played together in the final round and the battle for the title was extremely close going into the last few holes.

Valvassori drew within one shot of the leader Piccio with back to back birdies on the 15^th and 16^th holes. Piccio, held her nerve to par the last nine holes to win by one shot. She has been the only player with rounds of 70-under all three days of the tournament (65, 68, 69).

Mia Piccio was delighted with her performance: “Today I played very well, hitting fairways and greens. Overall I have played well all week. I have really enjoyed my stay and the tournament was very well organised”.

Spain’s Tania Elosegui and overnight leader, Lina Boqvist, tied for third place at 4 under par. The Swede struggled on the final day to a 6 over par, 76. France’s Melodie Bourdy finished in 5^th place at 3 under par.
