Sotogrande – Suzann Pettersen and Álvaro Quirós join the celebrations as The Alto Club officially opens new Par-3

The Alto Club has officially opened its new 9-hole Par-3 course, celebrating the latest addition to its Golf & Academy offering with a special launch event attended by two-time Major champion Suzann Pettersen and seven-time DP World Tour winner Álvaro Quirós.
October 5, 2026 – Over 40 guests took part in a shotgun tournament across the new course, located within SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort – becoming some of the first players to try the layout following its official opening.
Designed by Ryder Cup legend Manuel Piñero, the new Par-3 features holes ranging from approximately 80 to 200 metres and has been created to provide an enjoyable and varied playing experience for golfers of all ages and abilities.
The opening event brought together guests, members, and renowned golfers to mark another milestone in the continued evolution of The Alto Club.
Suzann Pettersen, Global Ambassador of The Alto Club Golf Academy, joined the celebrations alongside Spanish professional Álvaro Quirós, bringing together two prominent names in European golf to mark the occasion.

The new Par-3 completes The Alto Club’s Golf & Academy offering, sitting alongside its 18-hole course, Golf Academy, and Toptracer-equipped driving range.
The Alto Club combines golf and coaching with a wider resort experience encompassing luxury hospitality, wellness, and gastronomy – further strengthening Sotogrande’s position as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations.
The Par-3 has been designed to offer a relaxed and accessible format for newer golfers and families, while also providing experienced players with an environment in which to sharpen their iron play and short game.
Its official opening follows the continued transformation of The Alto Club and reinforces its ambition to provide a complete golf experience for members, guests and visiting players in Sotogrande.
