April 9th, 2012 – Twittour Golf began in January 2011 by Jorge Bultó (@JorgeTwittour) and Victor Sauca (@Vsgolf), fans of golf and social network users, when they decided to create a closed account that would join all the #jugones (golf Twitterers) who exchanged comments on Twitter. Next Friday April 27th Twittour Golf will hold its fourth tournament on El Encín Golf Hotel, in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid (Spain) with the support of the Madrid Golf Federation.

What began as a group of friends (60 registered during the first days of its opening) sharing their passion for golf on Twitter, now has become an important group with 620 followers spread throughout the Spanish territory, with golf Twitterers even coming from Andorra, Belgium and the United States.

They organized the first “meeting” on March 4, 2011 at Club de Golf Lerma, Burgos, with 27 #jugones, and two months latter 72 players met in an emotional tournament in El Encín, dressed in navy in remembrance and tribute to Seve Ballesteros, who had died a few days before; and the third Twittour brought together 40 participants in the Campo de Logroño, La Rioja, in honour of the group of followers from La Rioja, always willing to help wherever they are needed.

Jorge Bultó, founder of Twittour with Victor Sauca: “Through Twitter you have 200 friends stuck in your living room, and Victor and I came up with creating a ‘closed’ account just for golfers, when we realised how many #jugones were in the social network.”

“After spending hours connected to the 2.0 world we decided to organize tournaments with the aim of ‘getting out of the virtual net’, seeing faces, yet still sharing the same things that we had joined the network for.”

The next tournaments of Twittour (in July there is a weekend scheduled in Balneario de Mondariz), will serve to strengthen the friendship, comment on today’s golfing world and exchange points of view about golf courses, equipment and novelties. You do not need any special requirements to be part of this big family. You just need to play golf and have a Twitter account to follow @Twittourgolf.
