Cleveland Golf – First look to the new Smart Square putter

Cleveland-Smart-Square-putter

October 18, 2013 – Although it won’t be launched in Europe until February 2014, here you have a first look at the new putter with which Cleveland Golf wants to change the style of putting on the greens, with the Smart Square.

It looks like a good idea, and is very simple. Using two squares to aid alignment, instead of the two circles that have made the Odyssey 2-Ball so famous, can help golfers to align better and hole more putts. According to the company’s engineers and designers, players have 23% more accuracy with the Smart Square than with other high-performance models. In the following video you can see how it works:

The key is what Cleveland calls Dual Axis Alignment. The two squares, outlined by a white line but empty inside, over the black matte on the mallet head, create parallel lines that frame the golf ball at address, and provide a clear view of the path towards the hole. The video shows how the draw also generates two perpendicular lines with which, according to Cleveland, you can easily see when the putter is off-line to the hole, even if only by a few degrees. As a result, the company says you can align the club more quickly and more accurately than ever before.

A special website has been created in the United States where you can find more product information and specifications: http://www.clevelandgolf.com/smartsquareputter/.

This is all we know for the moment, and we’ll have to wait until February next year to test it once it is launched. The approximate price of the standard model is 139 €, and the Almost Belly will cost around 159 €. I’m looking forward to trying it out!
